Sailing Boat Essentials (sailingboatessentials.com) is operated by Pejlar AB, org.nr [XXXXXX-XXXX], [postal address], Sweden. Pejlar AB is the data controller for personal data processed through this site. For any privacy question, contact us at [contact email].
Sailing Boat Essentials is an editorial buyer's guide. We do not sell products, run user accounts, or operate a shop. We collect as little personal data as possible, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Technical logs: our hosting provider automatically records standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Contact: if you email us, we process the details you provide in order to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and where relevant the steps taken at your request (Article 6(1)(f) and (b)).
Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, a cookieless, aggregated audience-measurement tool that reports visits and pageviews without setting cookies and without collecting personal data. We also count affiliate-link clicks on our own pages in aggregate — recording only which product or article was clicked and when, with no IP address, cookie, or identifier — to understand which content is useful. Neither sets cookies nor identifies you, so no consent banner is required. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
Sailing Boat Essentials contains affiliate links. When you click one, you leave our site and go to a third-party retailer such as Amazon. At that point the retailer's own privacy policy applies to you, not ours. Retailers may set their own cookies and process your data under their terms. We may receive commission and aggregated, non-identifying reports on sales, but we do not receive personal data identifying you from these programmes.
We use trusted providers to run the site: website hosting, database hosting (located in the EU), and email. These act as our processors under data-processing agreements and only handle data on our instructions.
Our database is hosted in the EU. Some providers (for example hosting or content delivery) may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Technical logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operation, then deleted or anonymised. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact [contact email]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish supervisory authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), imy.se.
See our Cookie Policy for details. In short, we use no tracking or analytics cookies: both our audience analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) and our affiliate-click counting are cookieless.
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date shows the current version, and material changes will be reflected here.
